Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery is honored to announce our March Caregiver of the Month: Denise Wade. Denise is a retired teacher who is a full time caregiver to her father. Her devotion has led her to live with him and away from her own house the majority of the time in order to care for her Dad at his home. She also attends to her mother who is in an assisted living community. Denise’s selfless devotion is driven by the love and home life both her parents gave her while she was growing up. ”I couldn’t have asked for a better childhood and parents” said Denise.
Denise’s father was paralyzed from a stroke nine years ago and her mother has Alzheimer’s. She admits that at times she struggles with her parents need for around the clock care that has often required sacrificing time with her five grandchildren. Denise’s advice to all caregivers is to be willing to ask for help and accept help when offered. ”If you don’t have family or a friend to help you then ask a church. There are people who will assist if you just ask.”
Denise is married with two children and enjoys crafts, meditation and crystals. She is a trained Reiki Practitioner and is starting a new part-time business called Infinite Blessings.
